About

My name is Ely Orrego Torres and I am a PhD in Political Science. With over 15 years of teaching experience in Chile, France, and the United States, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse students across different cultures and perspectives. My teaching philosophy—shaped by my experiences as a student, TA, and lecturer, and by my academic formation in political science and political philosophy—emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, analytical rigor, and collaboration.

(Un)learning Politics grew out of this vision. I created (Un)learning Politics to highlight the creativity, insight, and curiosity of my students. This platform celebrates their ability to think critically, question assumptions, and express original ideas through essays, podcasts, and collective projects. It’s a space where learning goes beyond the classroom—showcasing how students reimagine what politics and civic engagement can mean today.
